01 | New Bark Town - video
[ The video shows Rin and his new partner, a Carvanha. There’s some good news and some bad news regarding Rin’s current state of attire. One is that he managed to grab his team jacket before turning up in Johto, so he at least has something other than his swimsuit keeping him decent. The other is that, well. He doesn’t have a shirt on.
Which one of those is good and which is bad is, of course, completely subjective. ]
Is it common for people to show up here without anything decent to wear? Because I actually have no clothes besides what I'm wearing right now.
[ The joys of being a Swimmer class: he has literally no underwear. Or pants, for that matter. Or shoes, either. But he does have a nice new pair of legskins, so it's not... all bad? ]
And some other questions. Is there a decent-sized pool in any of the cities here?
[ There's a slight hesitation before he goes on. ]
And about training Pokémon. I read the handbook, so I get why we have to do it, but... How are you supposed to decide what kind of Pokémon to raise? Or what the best way to raise them is?

As for clothing, you can usually buy some in the shops in the larger towns. New Bark doesn't have much by way of retail, I'm afraid.

You should have been given some clothes upon arrival... they should be in you bag.

At least it isn't winter, ne?
You can probably see if there is anyone willing to sell you a sweater and some pants around town though.

[She sighs, shakes her head, and chalks it up to "JOHTO BEING JOHTO".] Honestly, this place makes less sense every month.
[But that was under her breath, and maybe a bit impolite. Lets try the direct approach.] You're usually given a change of clothes when you arrive, but most of the time they're actual clothes... My name is Katara. I run a welcome center here. I can send a change of clothes along if you'd like.

As to the Pokémon, it's really up to you what type you like best! And how to raise them, really. Which might not be helpful, but...everyone has their ways!

I showed up in a glorified bra and tiny orange booty-shorts.
As for a pool, dunno. Never really looked for one, but I bet you'd be able to find 'em in the big cities at least.

Now, as for those questions...]
Your best bet for a swimming pool's all the way out in Cerulean City. Normally I'd suggest their water park, but they just shut down for the season. Sucks, but you might be able to find some smaller pools in the area. Shouldn't be too hard, when the city's focused on water types.
[He'd plug the Training Center's pool under normal circumstances, but this guy's new. Better to take it one step at a time.]
And if you're worried about team building, just go with what sticks out to you. I like to work with balance, but sometimes you bump into trainers who focus on certain types, certain looks... Basically, you've got about a million options.

As for pokemon, you will find what works best for you. Unless you discover a preference for a specific type. There are a great many pokemon, though starting off you are rather limited until you have travelled more of the world.

Heya! Name's Roxy, and I'm sure ya've heard already, but there ain't no pools around. There's the ocean in Olivine though.
And I gotta say, you're a lot more motivated 'bout all this than Haru was. So that mean you're a trainer instead of a breeder?
