[ The video shows Rin and his new partner, a Carvanha. There’s some good news and some bad news regarding Rin’s current state of attire. One is that he managed to grab his team jacket before turning up in Johto, so he at least has something other than his swimsuit keeping him decent. The other is that, well. He doesn’t have a shirt on.

Which one of those is good and which is bad is, of course, completely subjective. ]

Is it common for people to show up here without anything decent to wear? Because I actually have no clothes besides what I'm wearing right now.

[ The joys of being a Swimmer class: he has literally no underwear. Or pants, for that matter. Or shoes, either. But he does have a nice new pair of legskins, so it's not... all bad? ]

And some other questions. Is there a decent-sized pool in any of the cities here?

[ There's a slight hesitation before he goes on. ]

And about training Pokémon. I read the handbook, so I get why we have to do it, but... How are you supposed to decide what kind of Pokémon to raise? Or what the best way to raise them is?

You're the second person I've seen asking about a pool when they first show up.

As for clothing, you can usually buy some in the shops in the larger towns. New Bark doesn't have much by way of retail, I'm afraid.

You should have been given some clothes upon arrival... they should be in you bag.

I didn't get any clothes... I got a new swim cap, pair of goggles, and a swimsuit.

Cherrygrove is the next town over. It's a three-day walk from where you are. It's strange, though, because most people end up with a change of clothes when they arrive.

Just my luck, isn't it. [ One could practically cut the sarcasm with a knife... ] No, I just have a spare swimsuit here. It's nice stuff, but -- seriously, this is so inconvenient.

I didn't get his last name, but that does describe him. Do you know him? Last I'd heard he was flying with someone to Olivine to take advantage of the beach there before fall well and truly hit us.

[ She frowns a little, looking thoughtful. Weird that he would get just another set of what he's already wearing, but stranger things have happened. ] I can lend you a pokémon to ride if you need it. My Skarmory should be able to make the trip in half the time.

You can probably buy better clothes in town!! If you don't have enough money for that, I don't mind lending you some - some of the clothing choices are pretty unfortunate, and it's going to get colder soon.

As to the Pokémon, it's really up to you what type you like best! And how to raise them, really. Which might not be helpful, but...everyone has their ways!

Well the boarding houses aren't finished. I can put you up in the inn in the city if you need a place to stay when you get there, and we have the supplies for newcomers already. Cherrygrove City is the town you'll be heading for, and it's about three days away, unless your starter is big enough to ride.
